NIC

Your brain built 200% more nicotine receptors. We target every one of them.

Nicotine binds to α4β2 nAChRs. Your brain compensates by upregulating receptors. When nicotine is removed, those receptors signal simultaneously for stimulation that isn't coming. That is a craving, neurochemically explained.

The Mechanism

nAChR upregulation: the core mechanism behind nicotine addiction and why withdrawal is so acute in the first 72 hours. Nicotine upregulates your brain's acetylcholine receptors. Your protocol is designed to support their recovery over 8 weeks: craving interruption in the acute window, focus and mood support through the dopamine deficit, and sleep protection while the system renormalizes.

nAChR binding

Withdrawal Timeline

20 minutes

Heart rate and blood pressure begin to normalize.

2-12 hours

Peak nicotine craving as blood levels drop.

24-72 hours

Nicotine fully cleared. nAChRs at maximum unoccupancy. Peak physical withdrawal.

Week 1-2

Physical symptoms subside. Psychological craving persists. Dopamine baseline slowly recovering.

Weeks 2-4

Mood instability: the dopamine deficit produces depression and anhedonia. Second major relapse window.

Months 1-3

Receptor downregulation normalizing. Cravings episodic rather than constant.

The Protocol

What your protocol includes.

This is the clinical science the protocol is built on. Your protocol is designed around these mechanisms.

Craving Strips

as needed

Fast-acting oral support for the acute craving window. A craving peaks and passes in minutes; the strips give you a ritual and a sensory interrupt for exactly that window.

Morning Focus Formula

morning

Daily support for the focus and mood dip of withdrawal. Targets the dopamine-deficit weeks when anhedonia and brain fog drive relapse.

Craving Gummies

as needed

Slower oral support for the long, grinding cravings. Keeps mouth and hands occupied, the behavioral half of the nicotine habit.

Sleep Protocol

evening

Nicotine withdrawal fragments sleep architecture. Evening support for falling and staying asleep, because a wrecked night is a relapse risk the next day.

The Cornerstone

Craving Strips

Fast-acting oral craving support, built for the acute window. A nicotine craving peaks and passes in roughly three minutes. The strips give you a ritual and a sensory interrupt for exactly that window, while the daily protocol supports receptor recovery underneath.

The 8-Week System

Week by week. What to expect.

Weeks 1-2

Continue using, start the full protocol. Target: interrupt the reflex without cold turkey shock.

Weeks 3-4

Reduce nicotine by 50%. Add Craving Gummies and Morning Focus through the dopamine-deficit weeks.

Weeks 5-6

Zero nicotine. Oral supplements carry the behavioral habit. Sleep support added if needed.

Weeks 7-8

Taper supplements. Behavioral tools and app remain. Protocol complete.

FAQ

Can I use this with nicotine patches or gum?

Yes. The protocol is not nicotine replacement therapy and does not conflict with it. The craving tools, daily support, and app system work with any quit method: cold turkey, step-down, or NRT-assisted. You choose your method in the app and the protocol adjusts.

What's the difference between this and Chantix?

Chantix (varenicline) is a prescription drug that acts directly on nicotinic receptors, and for some people it is the right call. Relapsd is not a drug and not a substitute for one. It is an 8-week system: craving interruption, focus and mood support, sleep protection, and daily tracking, all timed to the documented nAChR recovery arc. If your physician prescribes a cessation aid, the protocol works alongside it.

Why 8 weeks?

Because that is the biology. Physical withdrawal resolves in days, but receptor density and dopamine baseline take weeks to renormalize, and the weeks 2-4 mood dip is the second major relapse window. The protocol is timed to that recovery arc, not to a marketing calendar.
